Getting Started

Set up WalletForecast and start forecasting in minutes

Quick Start Guide
Get up and running in 3 simple steps
  1. 1Download WalletForecast from the App Store
  2. 2Enter your current bank balance when prompted
  3. 3Add your recurring income (salary, benefits)
  4. 4Add your recurring expenses (rent, bills, subscriptions)
  5. 5That's it! View your forecast for up to 1 year ahead
  6. 6Update your balance weekly to keep forecasts accurate
First-Time Setup
Configure WalletForecast for your needs
  1. 1Set your starting balance to match your bank account
  2. 2Choose today's date as your starting date
  3. 3Create categories for your transactions (Housing, Food, etc.)
  4. 4Add your most important recurring transactions first
  5. 5Set up Face ID/Touch ID for quick access
  6. 6Export a backup of your data from Settings

Reconcile with your actual bank balance
  1. 1Tap the refresh icon next to your current balance
  2. 2Enter your actual bank balance from your statement
  3. 3Add an optional note about the update
  4. 4The app reconciles any differences automatically
  5. 5Your forecast adjusts from this new baseline
  6. 6Update weekly or after unexpected transactions
Understanding Balance Tracking
How current vs projected balance works
  1. 1"Current Balance" is your last confirmed bank balance
  2. 2"Projected Balance" includes transactions since then
  3. 3If they differ significantly, you may have missed transactions
  4. 4Regular updates catch forgotten expenses or income
  5. 5The app shows your last 3 balance updates for reference
  6. 6Use balance history to track your financial progress

Adding Transactions
Track one-time and recurring transactions
  1. 1Tap the "+" button to add a new transaction
  2. 2Choose "Quick Transaction" for one-time items
  3. 3Select Payment (expense) or Deposit (income)
  4. 4Enter the amount and description
  5. 5Choose or create a category for organization
  6. 6Set the date (can be future-dated for planning)
Recurring Transactions
Automate regular income and expenses
  1. 1Choose "Recurring Transaction" from the add menu
  2. 2Set the amount and description
  3. 3Choose frequency: Daily, Weekly, Bi-weekly, Monthly, etc.
  4. 4For monthly: pick a specific date or pattern (e.g., "First Monday")
  5. 5Set start date and optional end date
  6. 6Activate/deactivate anytime without deleting

Reading Your Forecast
Navigate your financial future
  1. 1Choose forecast period: 1, 3, 6, or 12 months
  2. 2The chart shows your balance trend over time
  3. 3Green indicates positive balance, red shows negative
  4. 4Tap any day to see transactions and ending balance
  5. 5Look for low balance warnings and alerts
  6. 6Use the summary to see lowest/highest points

Exporting Your Data
Create backups and transfers
  1. 1Go to Settings > Export Data
  2. 2Choose a location to save the JSON file
  3. 3File includes all transactions and settings
  4. 4Save to iCloud Drive or other secure location
  5. 5Use for backup or transferring to new device
  6. 6Export regularly to protect against data loss
Importing Data
Restore backups or migrate data
  1. 1Go to Settings > Import Data
  2. 2Select your exported JSON file
  3. 3Choose "Merge" to add to existing data
  4. 4Or "Replace" to start fresh with imported data
  5. 5Review import summary for any issues
  6. 6All data validation happens automatically
